Update Ouroboros

Zimo Web has been live for a year, and to celebrate this anniversary, I wanted to create something fundamental. Over the past year, Zimo Web’s updates have revolved around themes. It began with a complete website rewrite that introduced the ability to customize Zimo Web’s appearance. From dark-mode themes to festival specials and various visuals, this journey culminated in the Theme Maker, which unlocked limitless possibilities. But themes are just the surface, a presentation of Zimo Web’s core – its functionality and rich library of personal documentation.

Last month’s update briefly stepped away from the theme focus to introduce a new way to interact with Zimo Web, bringing a fresh dimension to the interface. That update was just a preview of what’s to come, as the full potential of the windows framework hadn’t been realized yet. After a month of intensive development, what seemed impossible is now a reality. Today, Zimo Web has gone beyond infinity, returning to the origin of its existence, like a rebirth, a true evolution. Introducing Update Ouroboros.

Perpetuity and Celebration Theme

Zimo Web’s year-long journey continues, and to mark this milestone, it welcomes two new beautiful themes: Perpetuity and Celebration. Both were crafted using the Theme Maker, and they’re nothing short of incredible. Perpetuity is inspired by Zimo Web’s original favicon, borrowing its color scheme and adding vibrant visuals that perfectly complement the default theme of the About page. Celebration is a new dark theme featuring a stunning firework animation, ideal for marking meaningful events. It’s a joy to watch.

Window Gallery

Ouroboros introduces the window button, located at the bottom-right of the page. A simple click opens the Window Gallery, where the next chapter of this journey begins. The Window Gallery is your gateway to windows. It lists all the windows you love and need, categorized into entries and widgets. You can move them around, resize them, or close them at your convenience. Most importantly, the Window Gallery gives you immediate access to the powerful windows introduced in this update.

Window Entries

Zimo Web honors its extensive library of stories, and one category of windows is dedicated to showcasing this collection. With a single click, you can easily access albums, blog articles, projects, and even management articles. Each entry window is designed to be intuitive and easy to use. Albums and projects catalog has been redesigned to fit the new window framework, offering a sleek, beautiful interface. Best of all, these entries are no longer restricted to their original pages – you can open these windows anytime, anywhere, from the Window Gallery.

Window Widgets

The power of the window system also shines in its widgets. Zimo Web stands out for its consistent, simple, and elegant design. Window widgets push this philosophy further by incorporating existing widgets and introducing new ones exclusive to the window system.

Notebook

Notebook is an essential tool found across many software systems, and now, Zimo Web offers its own note-taking experience. It’s available both as a window and on its own dedicated page. Place the notebook anywhere on the page and jot down whatever comes to mind right inside Zimo Web. In an upcoming minor update, you will also be able to style your text with bold, italic, monospace, and highlights, and export your notes in native rich HTML.

Calculator

Calculators are a vital part of everyday life, so why not have one in Zimo Web? This custom-built calculator includes everything you expect, but most importantly, it adapts to Zimo Web’s stunning themes and automatically switches between basic and scientific modes depending on the window size.

Theme Maker

The Theme Maker, the culmination of previous updates, has been perfectly integrated into the window system. Now, you can create and adjust your favorite themes from any part of the site.

Signal Generator

Zimo Web has a fantastic notification system. It’s a perfect opportunity to give you the freedom to send any notification you want. All of these simple and intuitive steps are handled within the Signal Generator widget. It’s easy to use, and you have a wide range of icons to choose from.

Navigator and Settings Panel

Utilities previously confined to the sidebar, like the page navigator and settings panel, are now available as windows. The settings panel has been completely redesigned, with categories that make it easier than ever to find the toggle you’re looking for.

Favicon

Zimo Web’s favicon was created on day one of the project and has remained unchanged. Now, you can bring it to life by opening it as a window.

Ever wanted to browse other websites inside Zimo Web? Or browse Zimo Web while in Zimo Web? Now you can.

Window Action

Along with this new lineup of windows comes an upgrade to how you interact with them. The concept of windows was first introduced in the last update, but it has since evolved. These new ways of interacting with Zimo Web are collectively known as Window Action. Window Action is intuitive and easy to access. Some actions occur seamlessly as you naturally interact with the windows, while others are conveniently located in a small menu that gracefully expands when you hover over the window button.

Window Saving

Zimo Web’s window experience is designed to be seamless and intuitive, so windows are saved between visits. When you return to Zimo Web, windows will appear exactly as you left them. Whether you’re reading a blog or taking notes, everything will resume right where you left off. And if you sign in and enable data sync, your windows will automatically be carried across devices, adapting to different screen sizes.

Window Snapping

Need your windows neatly aligned? Window Snapping takes care of that. Drag a window next to another, and it will automatically snap into place. The snapping system is smart, choosing the nearest window to align with, and can even snap to corners for precise horizontal and vertical alignment.

Window Minimizing

If your page gets cluttered with windows and you want to see what’s beneath them without closing everything, simply click the magnet button or right-click the window button to minimize all windows. Click again, and they’ll be restored to their original positions. It’s an easy and efficient way to manage your workspace.

Window Cleanup

If you can’t find an open window, click the broom button, and every window will snap together, perfectly aligned from right to left, from top to bottom, making them easier to locate. Window Cleanup intelligently sorts windows into rows for easy identification.

Clear Windows

If you need a clean slate, click the trash can button to remove all open windows in one go.

Other Features

Zimo Web’s update history has grown long enough to require its own version numbering system, and that need has now been met. This is the seventh major update to Zimo Web. Combined with the initial release, Update Ouroboros brings the version number to 8.0.0. This numbering system will increment with each change, from minor patches to new feature updates and major releases, making the progression clearer than ever.

Several icons and layouts have also been updated to enhance the browsing experience. They seamlessly blend into Zimo Web, maintaining the consistency of its design.

The Update That Makes History

This is a groundbreaking update for Zimo Web. It surpasses the achievements of the monumental Unlimited Themes Update and sets the stage for what’s next. Behind this rich gallery of features lies significant technical progress. The window framework uses native HTML and CSS rendering, just like every other element on the page, ensuring excellent performance and accessibility. The calculator widget boasts custom parsing logic that’s both powerful and versatile. The settings panel has been rewritten to allow greater flexibility for future updates. These are just a few examples of what Update Ouroboros has achieved. Most importantly, this update has made Zimo Web more intuitive than ever. Together, this is the update that makes history.
